newEar, a contemporary music ensemble in Kansas
City, performed a choreographed version of Rob
Smith's solo piano work "Spike" with the aha!
dance theatre on April 9th. From April 17-18 Rob
was a guest composer at Northwestern State
University in Natchitoches, LA, where he attended a
performance of his wind ensemble work "Whirl"
and gave a lecture about his music. Central
Connecticut State University's wind ensemble will
perform his work "Dance Mix" at their May 10th
concert, and Rob will "virtually" introduce the work
to the audience through a teleconference
connection.
Tim Hester will perform Rob's "Essential Torque"
for piano and electronics at the Musiqa Concert
"Pierrot and Beyond" Saturday April 30th, 7:30
p.m. at Zilkha Hall.
