Abstract
The –oe­calculus is a refinement of the –­calculus where substitu­
tions are manipulated explicitly. The –oe­calculus provides a setting
for studying the theory of substitutions, with pleasant mathematical
properties. It is also a useful bridge between the classical –­calculus
and concrete implementations.
