Opportunities in Gerontology
at The University of Georgia
In July 1965, the President of The University of Georgia appointed an
all-University Council on Gerontology consisting of twelve members
representing a diversity of institutes, departments, schools, and colleges
across the University. Gerontology research, training, and outreach have
evolved and expanded substantially over the last thirty-five years. In
addition, a number of nationally and internationally known experts in the
field of gerontology have provided additional expertise to the University
as Research Scientists through their appointments at the Gerontology
Center.
This booklet is designed to provide concise descriptions of training and
researchexpertisepresentatTheUniversityofGeorgiaingerontologyacross
differentdisciplinaryunits.Thefollowingpagesdescribethegraduatetraining
opportunities in gerontology that exist throughout the University. Individual
faculty members' research programs and interests are also described to
