Dear Medical Student:
As you may know, all medical students and MD/PhD students at the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine of Yeshiva University are required to have basic health insurance. In order to fulfill this
requirement, the University provides all students with single coverage in the Empire Blue Cross Blue
Shield Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) plan. The cost of this coverage is listed as a separate
item on your tuition bill. You also have the option of enrolling your spouse and eligible dependents in
the health plan at an additional charge. You can also enroll in an optional dental plan.
At the beginning of each academic year (July 1), you have the option to request a waiver of the
University-provided health insurance if you have health insurance through another source (e.g., your
