Southampton graduate Eagle Yi-Kung Huang is now an Associate
Professor with his own laboratory at Taiwan's National Defense Medical
Centre. He studied for a PhD in neuropharmacology at Southampton and
is sure the worldwide reputation of the School of Biological Sciences has
helped him in his career.
Eagle took his first degree in Animal Science at the National Taiwan
University in Taipei. "I knew I wanted to study abroad and applied to
several universities in the UK but I was recommended to come to
Southampton," he explains. "It was my first time overseas and I enjoyed it
very much. People were friendly and welcoming and I liked living
reasonably close to London."
He found studying at postgraduate level with Robert Walker, now an
Emeritus Professor at Southampton, and Dr Ram Sharma was an exciting
