Motivation
· The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) is in the
process of replacing the first generation reanalyses,
used in support of operational monitoring and
prediction activities, with the recently completed
coupled Climate Forecast System (CFS) Reanalysis
(1979-2010).
· As Part of this transition, a comprehensive
intercomparison of the old and new products is
being done.
NCEP Reanalyses
· NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis (R1) 1948-1995. Analyses
continued forward in time to present, using the
