INTRODUCTION
Welcome to UCSD Medical Center's Dialysis Program. The Dialysis Unit
is open Monday through Saturday. A well-trained staff is present to
acquaint you with the facility and its policies, as well as with current
treatments available for renal failure. Your questions and concerns are
very important to us, and we want you to feel free to discuss any problem
you may have.
Should medical problems arise at a time when the Dialysis Unit is closed,
you may contact a physician by calling the UCSD Medical Center's paging
operator at (619) 543-6737 or (619) 543-6222. Tell the operator that you
are a dialysis patient and that you want to speak to the adult Nephrologist
on-call. The operator will take your number and the physician will be
paged and will return your call. Medical problems such as shortness of
breath, fever, swelling, excessive bleeding, chest pain, etc., should be
referred to the physician at once. If severe, go to the nearest emergency
room. Do not come to the Dialysis Unit for these symptoms.
YOUR DIALYSIS TREATMENT
We will make every effort to arrange your dialysis schedule to fit your
