Summary: On behalf of BC Ferries and Parks Canada, Calliope
Consulting Inc. is seeking highly motivated individuals
with exceptional communication skills to deliver the sum-
mer 2012 onboard Coastal Naturalist program. Coastal
Naturalists inform, educate and inspire customers about the
wonders of B.C.'s coast, while traveling onboard BC Ferries
vessels between Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Victoria
(Swartz Bay), and Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) and Nanaimo
(Departure Bay).
Up to nine Coastal Naturalist positions are available, includ-
ing full time (4 days per week) and part time (2 to 3 days per
week), based in Victoria, Vancouver, and/or Nanaimo.
Work term is May 29 to Sept. 3, 2012, and begins with up to
four weeks of paid training, interpretation skill development,
program content development workshops, on-site visits to
significant areas, and onboard presentation rehearsals.
Once the onboard season starts, the daily schedule is
based on an 8 to 9 hour work day consisting of four sailings.
Naturalists will engage customers informally through roving
and conversations, and deliver a 30-minute outdoor presen-
