Summary: The Microbiology graduate program at the University of
Georgia offers an unusual array of topics for graduate
work with faculty studying over a dozen different
microbial systems of clinical and environmental
importance. You may apply directly for either the PhD or
MS degree and will be free to choose a major professor
from among approximately 15 regular Microbiology faculty
and 14 adjunct faculty from 7 other departments. Students
currently in the program do research in microbial
physiology and genetics, cell biology, microbial
pathogenesis, ecology, evolution, population biology,
biotechnology, and bioinformatics.
Our students are selected from the very best national and international
applicants. They have earned high GPAs and done undergrad research at
competitive colleges and universities in 17 US states, Asia, and Africa. Upon
completing their degrees our students go on to post-docs or permanent
positions in academia, the government, and industry. For more information on
