Abstract -- This paper discusses a novel way to conceive
measurement systems as perceptive agencies, namely as
systems in which different sensory agents cooperate to set up
rich and multiparadigmatic measurement tools.
I. INTRODUCTION
The advancement in distributed informatics and robotics
is mainly centred on the advanced research frontier of
multiagent systems, also called agencies [1] when they are
considered as single machines. Moreover, the role offered
by each computational and robotic agent is enhanced by the
adoption of intelligent systems offering advanced and
complex processing and interacting functionalities.
These two important evolving strategies in present
researches in artificial intelligence and robotics pave the
way to an evolving conception of modern measurement
systems that is discussed in this paper. A modern
