Jerry MacArthur Hultin, President of Polytechnic Institute and Former Under Secretary of the Navy

Long Island Chapter of the Navy League of the United States Annual Dinner
Presaging Christening of Long Island Applied Science Center of Innovation and Excellence in Homeland
Security
March 4, 2010

This evening is a reminder to us all that in order to sail forth into a secure and promising future, we
depend upon the wisdom and foresight of those who came before us.

I am talking of course about Ken Morrelly [late president of the Long Island Forum for Technology
(LIFT)]. But I also speak tonight of our Founding Fathers and of history's most tested presidents, who
built and protected our nation with the help of a strong Navy a Navy whose power relied on
innovation. Upon a spirit that today we would call entrepreneurial.
