Summary: The Alex Graham Memorial Prize was established in 2003 in memory of Alex
Graham who was tragically killed in a rafting accident in New Zealand, where she
was studying for her Masters degree in Marine Biology. While studying for her
B.Sc. in Marine Biology at Dalhousie, Alex had been very active in student affairs,
especially in the Dalhousie Association of Marine Biology Students (DAMS).
To perpetuate Alex's memory, the Biology department, DAMS and Alex's
family, established an annual prize to be given to a student in the Marine Biology
degree Programme who has:
1. shown outstanding participation, dedication, and contribution to the Marine
Biology Programme and to the Dalhousie Association of Marine Biology
Students (DAMS)
2. demonstrated satisfactory academic performance
3. declared their major as Marine Biology.
Completed applications with supporting material should be submitted to Pat
Collins, in the Biology Main office, by February 10, 2010.The selection will be
made by the Biology Undergraduate Awards Committee and a non-voting member
of the executive of DAMS who has not applied for the prize.
The prize will be presented at the AGM of DAMS in March.
