University Presidents have no choice but to speak. So at great risk of removing your doubt, let
Welcome honored guests, honorary degree recipients Seth Wertheimer and Arthur Martinez,
trustees, faculty, administrators and staff of the university, and graduates of the Class of 2008.
Thank you to the parents, spouses, families, and friends who have supported the Class of 2008.
Students, please stand, turn and give thanks and applause to those who have helped you arrive
at this important occasion. Thank you to everyone--for all you have done!
Everyone here believes, as I do, that "If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning
for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people."
