University of Regina Faculty of Nursing

Summary: University of Regina
Faculty of Nursing
The University of Regina has entered a collaborative partnership with the Saskatchewan Institute of
Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) for the delivery of an innovative four-year baccalaureate nursing
education program on two sites; Regina and Saskatoon. The first intake of 350 students will take place
in September 2011.
As part of establishing a new Faculty of Nursing, the University of Regina invites applications for five
initial full time tenure-track nursing faculty positions. Two faculty positions are intended for the
Saskatoon campus and three for the Regina campus. Additional faculty will be phased in over the next
three years. Candidates for faculty positions with expertise in Indigenous Health, Psychiatric/Mental
Health, Oncology Palliative Care and Community Health are encouraged to apply. Applicants with
expertise in other areas also will be considered. Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate
with professional experience and qualifications. Starting date for these positions is January 1, 2011.
The successful candidates must have excellent communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of
nursing practise, evidence of a beginning program of research and publication and a demonstrated
commitment and enthusiasm for teaching, including student advising, recruitment and retention.
Successful candidates will be expected to use a variety of teaching modalities, including offering courses
on-site or by distance delivery. Ideally, applicants will have recent (within five years) practice experience
in their area of specialization. Hiring preference will be given to candidates who have either completed
a PhD or are engaged in conducting their dissertation research and expect to graduate within two years
