Did you know?
When Brian Ferris moved to Seattle in 2004, he didn't have a car and
needed public transportation to get around. Like many bus riders,
however, Brian quickly realized that doing so left him with somewhat
limited control over his travel plans.
"Waiting for buses in Seattle isn't pleasant," Brian said. "They don't
always run on time."
This prompted Brian, a graduate student in computer science and
engineering, to create a service that provided riders with real-time
information on when their bus would be arriving.
Launched in 2008, OneBusAway now services over 50,000 users a week.
Riders are able to acquire information for any bus stop in the King County
area through calling, text messaging, accessing the OneBusAway website
