TRAVEL
The travel regulations and procedures of the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Stations are
essentially the same as published by the University of Georgia Finance and Administration
Office.
Travel Funds
Funds to cover the travel cost of experiment station personnel are allocated to each department
on an annual basis. The sources of these funds include state appropriations, federal
appropriations, contracts and grants, and other miscellaneous sources. In general, the
expenditure of these funds is at the discretion of the Department Head. The Department Heads
should plan their budgets, taking into consideration the need for in-state and out-of-state travel
by their personnel.
If the travel costs exceed the amount available in the budget because of extenuating
circumstances, it is possible, by budget amendment, to utilize other non-personal service items,
such as operating, supplies and equipment, for this purpose with approval through usual
administrative channels.
National Meetings
The general policy of the Agricultural Experiment Stations is to encourage all faculty members
to attend at least one national professional meeting a year. The funds to attend such meetings are
