Petition necessary for exceptions to College rules as outlined in the Bulletin.
Before submitting this petition, make sure you do all of the following:
Fill out and provide necessary contact information, the exception you are requesting, and the reason you are
requesting the exception on the Petition for the Petition for Exception to College Rules (attached)
Meet with and discuss the request with your advisor; he or she must sign your petition acknowledging that you
have met and discussed your situation. If you cannot obtain the signature of your advisor in person (he/she may
be off campus), this may be supplemented with an email with his/her electronic signature as well as requested
information. The advisor's signature only acknowledges that you have met with him/her to discuss your situation.
It does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement of the petition request.
Note: Undeclared students must meet with an advisor in the Engineering Advising Center. An appointment may
be set up via www.engin.umich.edu/students/advising. Declared students must meet with the chief program
advisor in their department.
