INTRODUCTION
1) CMPS 497 is designed specifically for CMNS students with internships. The main objective of the course is to
help students process their internship experience and gain the skills and knowledge necessary for an effective
transition into industry and/or graduate school. The course aims to help students with the following learning
objectives:
a. To understand the relationship of internship experience to major and/or intended career path, and the
opportunities provided by an employer for advancement/further training in the field;
b. To recognize and develop professional work skills;
c. To understand and apply basic components of the job search process;
d. To enhance written and verbal communication skills as they pertain to the job search process;
e. To assess personal and professional goals as they relate to career development;
f. To help prepare for the transition from college to the workforce and/or graduate school;
