1 Introduction
This position paper argues that the incorporation of user
modeling into a plan recognition system has the benefit
of improving the processing, by eliminating inappropri­
ate plans more effectively. We focus on plan recognition
in advice­giving (also known as information­seeking) set­
tings. We also allow for the initiation of clarification di­
alogues with users, when it is important to resolve plan
ambiguity in order to provide an effective response. We
