Abstract
Process schedulers in conventional operating systems employ the Time Sharing principle and hence
cannot provide scheduling guarantees to real-time (RT) multimedia applications. The Dynamic
Soft Real Time (DSRT) system was built to achieve guaranteed CPU allocation to RT tasks with
soft deadlines. However, the DSRT system handles only those processor reservation requests that
