Industry Sponsored Post-Doctoral Research and Clinical Fellowships Proposal

Summary: Industry Sponsored Post-Doctoral Research and
Clinical Fellowships Proposal
2009
UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
Industry Sponsored Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships
UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy is seeking Industry partners to respond to the need to train Pharm.D, M.D.
and PhD Scientists to become better prepared to the challenges of pharmaceutical and biotechnology drug
discovery and development. UCSD is expending it's offering of program fellowships programs to include areas of
drug discovery and development as well as clinical fellowships. This program was initiated in collaboration with
Biogen-Idec, and Pfizer is currently supporting fellows and advanced residents. The key benefits to the partner is
to get professionals trained in the specific area of interest and to potentially recruit the fellows to join their firm at
the end of the fellowships.
Fellowship Objectives
The partnership programs between UCSD and your company will result in professional practitioners and scientists
who will have developed skills in drug discovery, drug development, and clinical care to enter a career in the
pharmaceutical industry, in pharmaceutical development extending from drug discovery through clinical trials and
to outcomes and post-marketing surveillance studies or academia. In addition, the fellows will develop
collaborative professional relationships with members of the health care system and with academic institutions.
This range of activity reflects the interests of our existing research and clinical care programs. These programs
will be tailored to the education and training background of the fellows.
