Course description
Current topics in bioinformatics presented by program professors and invited speak-
ers. Oral presentation and written report required. Graded S/NS.

Pechenik JA. 2010. A short guide to writing about biology. Springer, New York
(ISBN-10: 0205667279).
Evaluation
1. Presentation of a research paper: this paper has to be related to your own
research and be drawn from a list of selected journals. A three-page critique
of the paper should be submitted by all students on presentation day (40% in
total)
2. NSERC-style grant proposal (details at www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca) with peer-
review evaluation (30% in total)
3. defense of the grant proposal (30%)
