HireOnline Updates & Tips Mac Users: Viewing Resume Fix

Summary: HireOnline Updates & Tips
Mac Users: Viewing Resume Fix
Unfortunately some Mac computers do not come preinstalled to view embedded PDFs. If you
experience this there are two possible solutions based on the browser (Safari or Firefox) you are
using. Please try one of the following if you are unable to view resumes. If you do not have
administrator rights to your computer, your IT Department may have to do this for you.
Safari:
a. Install Adobe Reader first
b. Follow the steps provided at this website:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50983.html
Firefox:
a. Open Firefox and go to: http://code.google.com/p/firefox-mac-pdf/
b. Click on the "Add PDF Plugin to Firefox" link
c. Follow the prompts to install the plug-in.
d. Restart Firefox and go to: https://hireonline.ucsd.edu.
Safari is the preferred browser on the Mac, as it offers Adobe Reader integration. Firefox works as
well, but removes the ability to search resumes for Key Terms.
Creating a Requisition
1. There is a new field when creating a recruitment requisition called Recruitment Area. Please be
sure to select your VC Area when completing a requisition.
