COURSE DESCRIPTION: The power and prominence of modern genetics have grown from a blend of classical and
molecular approaches; both approaches are emphasized. Topics include: Mendelian, population and quantitative genetics;
chromosome structure and variation; structure and function of nucleic acids; DNA replication, transcription and translation;
gene expression; gene mutations; and genetic engineering.
