at the University of Regina
The University of Regina is leading research to sustain and enhance the quality of
the environment. For this reason, the University established environment as part of
Energy and Environment as one of its thematic areas in 2000.
Building on decades of environment research at the University of Regina, our
scholars have advanced both knowledge and understanding of the natural world by
addressing environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity and natural
hazards. Our world-class researchers specialize in solutions focused on conserving
renewable resources, developing green energy technologies, forecasting weather
and environmental change, and carbon capture and storage. To complement this strong
focus on environment, the research of our Canada Research Chairs significantly advances our
commitment to proactively secure a sustainable future for the planet and its people. Internationally,
our environment research has provided industry and government organizations with innovative
solutions to address the global environmental challenges facing society.
