Phillip Freeman, BM, 1998, very recently
won the bass trombone position in the
Houston Symphony Orchestra. At UH, Phil's
major was composition (studio of David A.
White). His secondary instrument was
euphonium (studio of Frank Woodruff). For
several years, Phil participated as a bass
trombonist in the Texas Music Festival. He
also played with the New World Symphony in
Miami, and was a substitute player with the
Houston Symphony Orchestra.
Congratulations to senior Music Education
major, Ogechi Ukazu, for being awarded a
Preparatory & Continuing Studies Teaching
Internship to teach a program on instruments
of the band and orchestra at the after-school
program at Yellowstone Academy. This
internship is in conjunction with the Abiola
Initiative in Music Education.
