Abstract. The Volterra theory gives a characterization of nonlinear systems in
terms of polynomial functionals. This theory was analysed in comparison to algo
rithms for the construction of invariant image features in [1] and conditions were
derived so that these features remain constant if the images are transformed accord
ing to the action of a transformation group. However in general one can observe
a high correlation between different image features, that are constructed that way.
Therefore this paper examines the use of Wiener theory for orthogonalizing these
features.
1 Introduction
Invariant features are data characteristics which remain constant when the data are trans
