Summary: Genetics Department Color Printer Guide
These guidelines are for the use of the various Genetics Department color imaging resources.

We currently have three types of departmental color printers, each with their own strengths
and limitations. The following should assist you in deciding which printer is most appropriate
for a particular color printing need.
Hewlett-Packard Color LaserJet 4600dn (two available)
Imaging Technology: Laser Printer, four color (CMYK)
Language(s): PostScript, PCL
Driver(s): HP drivers: Windows (PCL and Postscript) and Macintosh OS X (Postscript)
Resolution: 600dpi
Media Size(s): 8.5" x 11" (Letter)
Network Address: 128.192.8.218 GNcolorJet 4600 (Room B111)
128.192.8.112 GN4600 (Room C423)
Printing Cost: <$0.10 per page (currently no charge-back to users)
Applications: Routine Word processing or Acrobat (PDF) documents that contain color
elements. Graphs, drawings or vector art that do not require the highest
resolution. This printer will also accept transparency media (e.g., for overheads).
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is critical that ONLY HP color transparency media
approved for this printer be used with this device. Other transparency media
