The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) kicks off its summer season this Memorial
Day Weekend. The museum's reinstallation project, Reflections on a Museum, will be on
view throughout the summer months. Re-discover WCMA and what makes it unique: its
commitment to raising questions about the function and meaning of art across time and
cultures and the role of the museum in shaping understandings of art.
The latest addition to Reflections on a Museum includes Jesse Aron Green's installation,
Force Tracking, now on view through summer in the museum's historic rotunda. Green's
installation examines how a strategic ordering of space exerts control over our movements
both physically and visually. Whether in his references to the meticulously planned galleries
of a museum, or in the precisely mapped arena of modern day warfare, Green's work
suggests how visual systems order our lives.
Also on view for this summer is Masters of the Modern, an exhibition of Madeleine and
Harvey Plonsker's (Class of 1961) modernist print collection recently donated to the
