We assume that the secondary isotope effects for hy
drogendeuterium exchange and hydrolysis can be
neglected. With this assumption the rate constant
ratio k,/ko, can be calculated to be 34.13 This value
agrees well with the value of 27 which we obtained as
described earlier in this article. With the assumption
of the lack of a secondary isotope effect we can also cal
culate predicted percentages of PHD and PD2 which
should be obtained, knowing the ratio k,,/koD and the
percentages of SHD and SD,found. The values we
calculate are 2.75% for PHD and 45.79z for PD2.
