Summary: A Proposal for a Special Arrangement Graduate Co-Operative Education Program (GCEP)
Approved at Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research Meeting March 6, 1996
This program will be based upon the model for Co-operative Education Programs
(hereafter referred to as co-op programs) available at the undergraduate level.
Goals Accordingly the goals of graduate and undergraduate co-operative education are
identical: "Co-operative education combines academic programs with related work
experience in a structured work environment" (pg. 31, University of Regina General
Calendar).
Criteria for
Selecting a
Placement
This means whereby a co-operative education might achieve this end is to provide
such work opportunities for suitable graduate candidates who elected this form of
work experience. There would in turn be specific requirements in place to ensure
that a prospective placement met certain standards of quality, relevance and intensity
to warrant consideration as a graduate placement. Graduate Studies ultimately
decides the acceptability of a placement.
