Summary: Skin Stem Cells in

Dr. Elaine Fuchs, is the Rebecca C.
Lancefield Professor at the
Rockefeller University and Head of
the Laboratory of Mammalian Cell
Biology and Development; she has
been a Howard Hughes Medical
Institute investigator since 1988. She
has a B.S. in Chemistry from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign and a Ph.D. in
Biochemistry from Princeton
University. She began her research
on skin during a postdoctoral period
at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology with Howard Green.
From there she went to the
University of Chicago ultimately
becoming the Amgen Professor of
