Robert D. Sherman
Robert Sherman was the senior vice president,
Merrill Lynch Private Client and national sales
director of Merrill Lynch. He was responsible for
leading the Merrill Lynch Retail Branch Office
System. National Sales has more than 14,300
financial consultants and nearly 7,500 management
and support employees in more than 700 offices
located throughout the United States and the
District of Columbia.
Sherman is an alumnus of The University of Iowa
where he was a student athlete. After graduating,
he played defensive back for the NFL Pittsburgh
Steelers in 1964 and 1965. He entered the business world in 1967, joining Merrill
Lynch as an account executive in the Detroit office. In 1975 he was appointed
regional sales manager, Southwest Region, and he became resident vice
president of the Little Rock, Ark., office in 1976. Sherman became Texas regional
director in 1985, Texoma District director in 1991, and national sales director of
the Eastern Sales Division in 1992, and National Sales Director of the Merrill
