In biological processes, precise control of the permeability
of ions and molecules through the lipid membrane, which
contains microporous pores and channels, is achieved
through conformational change of the membrane proteins.[1]
Similar control over permeability is not attainable for gener-
al synthetic materials. The preparation of materials with dif-
ferent pore sizes has been enabled by altering the process-
ing conditions, such as using a range of surfactants,[2]
