Abstract
Relative gains of the Hamamatsu R7525HA PMTs used in the HF Forward Calorimeter were studied
at different PMT high voltages on a sample of 223 PMTs. Relative gains do not vary much but the
overall uncertainty increases slightly. There is an additional 5% uncertainty at 1350 V (HV used
during the test beam 2004).
1 Introduction
Relative gains at 1100 V of all the PMTs to be used in the HF Forward Calorimeter were measured at the University
of Iowa PMT test sation. However, relative gains at different HV settings may not necessarily be the same as that
at 1100 V because of the different gain characteristics of these PMTs (absolute gains vary by a factor of five). We
