The turbulent channel flow with spanwise rotation is studied by Direct Numerical Sim-
ulation (DNS) and the so-called Helical Wave Decomposition (HWD). For wall-bounded
channel domain, HWD decomposes the flow fields into helical modes with different scales
and opposite polarities, which allows us to investigate the energy distribution and the
nonlinear transfer among various scales. Numerical results reveal that for slow rotation,
the fluctuating energy concentrates to large scale modes. Meanwhile, the flow visualiza-
tion shows that the fine vortices at the pressure side of the channel gather and form long
columns, which are basically along the streamwise direction and related to the roll cells.
As the rotation rate increases, the fluctuating energy shifts towards smaller scales. For
