Summary: February 15, 2011
Dear Friends and Supporters of ECE Department,
One of the most successful programs at Northeastern University over the
past 15 years has been the senior Capstone Design Course. Some of you,
who served as judge during this period, noticed about the level of
sophistication in the designed projects. However, in spite of this success,
your support to enhance this program is critical.
The Engineering Capstone Design projects at Northeastern University
provide an opportunity for students to learn how to actively manage a real
project with real engineering challenges. They are the climax of
Northeastern University's Practice Oriented Education and provide the
final component for integrating the academic and practical aspects of the
engineering curriculum. This helps the students develop a comprehensive
understanding of their accomplishments to date and what they can expect
when they enter industry. Each Capstone Design Team plans and executes
a design project that culminates in a working solution, a final report and a
formal presentation.
Our experience shows that the completion of the senior design projects
depends upon the support of our employers in a variety of ways. Over the
past 15 years ECE employers and alumnae participated by donating
