Abstract
This paper presents a formal approach to modelling knowledge related processes and describes the
simulation environment that has been developed to dynamically simulate KM activities. The
conceptual framework behind the model can be used to model many types of companies. Simulating
those models becomes very valuable when one wants to investigate different knowledge management
scenarios.
Key words: process-oriented knowledge management, knowledge management business model,
simulations, case study.
1. Introduction
Many researchers have made substantial contributions to the field of knowledge management
(KM) since the 1990s. Research focused on topics like: what is knowledge and knowledge
