that the number 225d9 is divisible by 9 ? Write your answer as a common
fraction.
2. A thin rectangular piece of tin is 25 inches long and 20 inches wide. A thin square piece of
metal with side length of 4 inches is cut from each corner, and the tin is folded to form an open
rectangular box. How many cubic inches are in the volume of the box?
3. A final exam was taken by 27 students. The mean score of those who passed was 68, the mean
score of those who failed was 59, the mean score of all the students was 65. How many students
did not pass the test?
4. The length of the sides of a rectangular prism measuring 4 x 7 x 10 cm are each increased in
length by 50%. What is the percent increase in the volume of the prism? Express your answer as
a decimal to the nearest tenth.
5. When several thieves tried to divide a sum of money by giving 11 dollars to each thief, 5
thieves received nothing. When each thief took 10 dollars, they had 5 dollars left over. What is
the sum of the number of dollars and the number of thieves?
