The second IEEE symposium on
Swarm Intelligence (SI) was hosted at the
Westin Hotel in Pasadena (USA) from
June 8 to 10. Local organization was per-
formed by members belonging to different
academic institutions, including the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the École
Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne
(EPFL), the California Institute of
Technology (Caltech), and the University
of Southern California (USC). The sym-
posium started on June 8 with a day of
tutorials, followed by a mixed single- and
double-track conference from June 9 to
June 10. The event started up with three
