Abstract | In a previous work [7], we introduced
and studied the properties of a binary communication
channel with memory whose additive noise process
is generated according to a nite queue. The queue
operates in two modes { a uniform mode and a
non-uniform mode { resulting in uniform and non-
uniform queue-based channels, respectively. In this
work, the capacities of the uniform and non-uniform
queue-based channels are compared analytically and
numerically with the capacity of the Gilbert-Elliott
burst-noise channel. We also consider the problem of
tting our queue-based channels to a typical binary
modulated correlated Rayleigh fading channel. This
