Ph.D. Position (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Medicine)

Summary: Ph.D. Position
(Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Medicine)
We seek to fill a Ph.D. position supported by the newly established Collaborative
Research Center 850 "Control of Cell Motility in Morphogenesis, Cancer
Invasion and Metastasis". Salary is according to TVL E13/2, benefits are
included.
Among the hallmarks of human cancer, tissue invasion and metastasis are
considered the most complex characteristics. Our lab specialized in developing
interfering peptides (iPEP) blocking proteins involved in tumorigenic proceses
with the aim to reconstitute the physiological state of the cell. We are seeking a
person who will develop new peptide inhibitors against proteins of the Wnt
signaling pathway.
We utilize a combination of rational design strategies and evolutionary systems,
followed by biochemical, biophysical and cellular characterization. We rely on a
wide variety of techniques: Molecular biology, selection systems, protein
biochemistry, biophysical methods, cell culture, bioinformatics and proteomics.
Experience in one or more areas is advantageous.
Our team currently comprises seven members from four different countries. The
lab with state-of-the-art equipment is promoted by the German Excellence
Initiative with the excellence cluster bioss (biological signaling studies), the
