Abstract. We report the analysis of the highresolution Xray spec
trum of the nearby Ftype star Procyon in the wavelength range from 5
to 175 A obtained with the Low Energy Transmission Grating Spectrom
eter (LETGS) on board Chandra and in the wavelength range from 5 to
37 A obtained with the Reflection Grating Spectrometers (RGS) on board
XMMNewton. By means of global fitting, using SPEX in combination
with the MEKAL code, a multitemperature fit has been carried out and
selfconsistent temperatures and Emission Measures (EM) have been ob
tained, applying the regularisation method. Temperatures ranging from
0.7--2.5 MK have been established. The total volume emission measure is
¸ 3:6 \Theta 10 50 cm \Gamma3 . No indications for a hot component (T ¸ ? 4 MK) from
higher ionization stages of Fe such as Fe XVIII and higher were found.
