Abstract. We present a general formulation for the anal­
ysis of cool clouds co­rotating around a star which per­
mits us to construct so­called visibility plots which limit
the clouds' heights and latitudes. We apply this formal­
ism to the case of neutral hydrogen clouds in the rapidly
rotating late­type stars, HK Aqr and AB Dor. We argue
