Guidelines for Nominations for
2012 Summer Short Session I or Short Session II
Deadline: Tuesday 6 September 2011
Nominees from any international research institution for Short Session I, 2012 (classes begin
Friday 8 June 2012; final exams Friday 6 July 2012) or Short Session II (classes begin Friday
6 July 2012; final exams Thursday 2 August 2012) are welcome. Preference will be given to
institutions with which we have an existing relationship, typically in the form of a Study
Abroad Program, an Exchange Program, or an International Cooperative Agreement. See the

Potential nominees should be made aware that the salary for this program is non-negotiable
and is set at $7,000, which is in line with the average UGA summer salary. My intention is to
cover most other expenses, such as: round-trip air fare between the closest international
airport to the applicant's home institution and Atlanta; accommodation for the dates of the
summer session in a suite at the Georgia Center; and, if necessary, visa processing fees. FISP
cannot cover meals.
FISP scholars are expected to teach a class during Summer Short Session I or II. In so far as
