The Williams College Museum of Art Receives a
$10,000 Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) has been
awarded a generous grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) in the
Colleague category of the Cultural Investment Portfolio for fiscal year 2012. It will support
WCMA's efforts to provide students, faculty, regional audiences and cultural tourists with
opportunities to learn about art across time and cultures by providing a range of
challenging educational opportunities for visitors of all ages and encouraging access to
exhibitions, collections, and programs through free admission.
State grants are awarded through a competitive process. This grant signifies that WCMA
provides a high level of public value through its programs and community service.
"Through the MCC grant, WCMA is able to bring artists and speakers from around the
world to share their perspectives with our audience, from Williams faculty, students, and
staff to the broader community." WCMA Director of Education and Visitor Experience,
Cynthia Way said. "We've been able to bring artists such as photographer Zwelethu
Mthwethwa from South Africa to Williamstown. Each speaker broadens our view of the
