Equipment Request Guidelines
The following guidelines apply to Departments and other units in Franklin College. The
guidelines pertain to requests for state funds; all requests for state funds should be submitted and
prioritized via the College equipment request system:
In general, units should create one entry for each item requested. If items have dependencies, please
indicate and group them together. If you are requesting multiple low cost items such as cables or
DVDs, you may combine them.
I. PERSONAL COMPUTERS
When budgets allow, the College will try to provide one reasonably current (under 3 years old)
computer for each full-time faculty and staff member.
Generally, the College will provide $1,500 or less for a desktop computer or laptop. If you request
a higher replacement value, your department will need to cover some of the cost.
When you request replacement computers via the equipment request system, please indicate the
name of the recipient and whether the computer is a primary or secondary computer.
If department heads wish to provide more than one computer for a faculty or staff member, these
computers will need to be covered by department operating budgets or other funds. For faculty with
joint appointments, computer requests should be submitted via the home department.
