Joel Love (studio of Rob Smith) won the graduate
division, with Jack Benson (studio of Rob Smith)
receiving an honorable mention, and Paul Wadle
(studio of Marcus Maroney) won the undergraduate
division, with Michael Craig (studio of Marcus
Maroney) receiving an Honorable mention, at the 2008
Louisa Stude Sarofim Student Composition Contest
judged by Samuel Adler, Christopher Arrell and Kurt
Stallmann. The winners received a cash award and are
invited to compose a new work for AURA for the '09-
'10 season.
Kimberly Clark has been invited to serve a two-year
term on the Board of Directors for the National Flute
Association. The NFA is the largest flute association in
the world with over 6,000 members from 50 different
countries.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra gave the premiere
performances of Symphony by Christopher
Theofanidis (BMus, 1990) April 2-4 in Atlanta and then
