In memory of Vadim A. Pestunovich
The chemistry of geminal dilithio reagents of the general type
R2ELi2 (E = C,[1]
Si,[2,3]
Ge[4]
) is a rapidly developing field.
However, the structures of these compounds and their
aggregation preferences are still largely unknown. Thus,
only a few R2SiLi2 compounds have been characterized by
X-ray crystallography, all as solvated unaggregated structur-
es.[2e,f,3c]
