| Description/Abstract | This book is the last in a series of three reports on world aluminum resources. It reports on geologic and geographic occurrences of high alumina clay, anorthosite, nepheline syenite, phonolite, leucite-bearing rocks, dawsonite-bearing rocks, aluminous phosphate rocks, saprolite, aluminous metamorphic rocks, aluminous shale, coal waste, and coal ash. The emphasis is on U.S. resources, but those in other countries are also described. The chapter includes a summary of research on methods to extract alumina from nonbauxite materials. Nearly 800 references are cited. |
